The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has turned down a Freedom of Information request about an XL bully dog which was put to sleep.
The request asked for legal advice from the Attorney General's Office to the department about whether putting it down as a legal requirement.
However, DEFA declined to provide the information, saying providing the information could prejudice future legal cases.
Charlie the dog was put to sleep in April after his owner admitted illegally importing a banned breed.
