DED will not be appointing a new Head of E-Gaming

7 months on from the departure of the Head of E-Gaming, Garth Kimber, the Department of Economic Development has confirmed that it will not be appointing a new person to the post.

After a fruitless search to find Mr Kimber's replacement a restructuring exercise has been carried out to appoint existing members to a team who will be responsible for the continued growth of the industry.

The decision not to appoint a new head will be seen as controversial to many, with e-gaming the fastest growing industry on the Island, and cited as the primary reason we didn’t slip into recession.

Ray Davies, Tim Craine and John Spellman will be the key figures in the team of five, overseeing E-Gaming’s development.

We put it to DED Minister John Shimmin that this will be perceived by many as a backwards step, here's what he had to say:
