DEC asks for privately educated kids to be registered

Home schooled and privately educated students must be placed on the government register.

That's the message from the Department of Education and Children - legal and administrative services manager Andrew Shipley explains:
 
 
It's a requirement which comes under the Education Act 2009 - which applies to all schools which are not run by the department. 
 
Mr Shipley says registration has to happen within three-months of a child reaching the age of five:
