A major international study has revealed that the UK has the
unwanted title of cocaine capital of the western world.
Use among teenagers has rocketed with the price for a line of
the class a drug now as low as £2.
Shelley Stanley from Drug Advice service Dash told us the Island has a real problem with the drug also, with cases of usage climbing especially over the past year.
Excessive cocaine use can lead to mental health problems with regular users suffering from depression as a consequence. It can also leave people in serious debt with many cases of people spending upto £300 a weekend on the substance once hooked.
In terms of statistics Cocaine sits behind Cannabis as being the second most abused substance on the Island.
