Dangerous promenade steps being fixed

Work has begun to repair some dangerous steps on Douglas Promenade.

The Department of Infrastructure has appointed sub-contractors to remove steps, concrete blocks and a parapet wall in an area opposite Quids Inn.

Progressive storm damage has resulted in parts of the structure breaking away and hanging loose.

The department says it probably won't be reconstructed until the 2016/2017 financial year - due to a lack of funding currently available.
