A public consultation is being launched after planners are proposing cuts in \'red tape\' to allow Isle of man residents more freedom to alter their home.

A public consultation is being launched after planners are proposing cuts in 'red tape' to allow Isle of man residents more freedom to alter their home.

The Department of infrastructure say they want to make it easier for residents to improve their property. The amended Town and Country Planning Order would increase the amount of development that can be done without applying for Government permission.

The Minister for Infrastructure, Phil Gawne, MHK says; 'Hopefully this will reduce red tape and will help to stimulate the economy further and provide a welcome boost to the local construction industry by making it easier for residents to improve their homes.'

The Department welcomes responses from anyone, on these proposed amendments to the Town and Country Planning (Permitted Development ) Order 2005. The online questionnaire can be accessed at http://www.gov.im/ConsultationDetail.gov?id=253

All comments should be submitted to via the website no later than 5.00pm on Monday 15th August 2011.
