Cronk y Bing area fenced off to protect birds

The Manx Wildlife Trust have fenced off an area of Cronk Y Bing Nature Reserve to protect nesting birds.

The measures are to protect the endangered Ringed Plover, which are a Bird of Conservation Concern on the Isle of Man.

Anyone found disturbing these birds while nesting could face a fine of up to £10,000.

The Trust has fenced off 710m of the upper beach to prevent people and their dogs damaging eggs or disturbing adults and their chicks.
