A groundbreaking court case has produced new Manx sentencing guidelines for cannabis traffickers.
Judge of Appeal Storey QC and Deemster Montgomerie were considering the case of Jamie Smith, who was jailed for almost eight years for his part in bringing £440,000 worth of the drug to the Island.
They cut his sentence from 95 and a half months to 83 months.
But they also rewrote sentencing guidelines set in 1982, changing the jail sentences drug smugglers and dealers can expect to be given.
