A councillor has called for the one-way system at Lord Street to remain in place after the lower Douglas regeneration scheme has been completed.
The busy route was closed from Ridgeway Street this summer to traffic heading in the direction of the sea terminal.
It’s scheduled to reopen as normal in February, but Andrew Bentley feels the one-way system should stay.
He says the closure has led to less traffic, less pollution, and a better environment for those living along Coronation Terrace, without causing any ‘signifcant’ problems.
According to the Douglas councillor, central government should be more willing to ‘experiment’ with traffic in the capital.
