Douglas Council says it's writing to Johnny Watterson's Lane allotment holders about its plans for the land.
The local authority says the Lawn Cemetery will need more space in the near future, and the allotments will have to move elsewhere.
But it says it won't need to move the plots until 2028 and is considering relocation options.
The land was bought in 2000 and earmarked for cemetery expansion, with allotments being provided temporarily.
