The fortnightly waste collection in Douglas 'has never been about saving money.'
That's according to Council Leader Claire Wells, who says the aim of the scheme has always been about 'a commitment to strengthen our green credentials.'
A number of residents voiced their dissatisfaction with the scheme at a public meeting earlier this week.
Despite this, Mrs Wells says 'what we've seen so far gives us the confidence that residents are managing the change.'
Anyone struggling to recycle due to capacity is asked to contact the Waste Services Team on 696445.
