Douglas council says it's reviewing CCTV to find out who contaminated a waste oil container at the Civic Amenity Site.
On Facebook, the local authority said someone had poured sand into the container at the weekend.
It means the oil can't be sent to the Energy from Waste facility.
The council says it's investigating the incident because the container will have to be sent off-Island to be decontaminated.
