A former store manager at the Costa café in Ramsey has admitted stealing more than £17,000 from his employer.
John Gelling, of North Shore Road, Ramsey, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse.
The 30-year-old admitted theft between January last year and February this year.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the court Gelling stole a total of £17,471 by siphoning off money as he cashed up in a CCTV blind spot.
In February, concerns were raised about takings being down and Gelling handed himself in to the police station, saying he'd stolen money because of gambling debts.
The case was sent to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentence on May 17 and Gelling was bailed on condition he does not enter the Ramsey Costa store.
