Financial assistance was given to Flybe in order to keep the patient transfer service operating to Liverpool.
The Department of Health and Social Care has defended changing the airlines contract but for confidentiality the details won’t be disclosed.
If the route had been pulled it would have meant patients would have had to fly to Manchester instead.
West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas says he thinks the revised contract should have gone out to tender.
