Consultation open for tougher penalties for dog attacks on livestock

The Isle of Man could introduce tougher laws for dog owners whose pets attack livestock.

A public consultation has opened on whether penalties should be increased to match changes already brought in England, Wales and Scotland.

Currently, owners can be fined up to £1,000 if their dog worries livestock while on farmland.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says attacks can have a devastating effect on farmers, with many reporting incidents in recent years.
