Community service for man who threatened police officers

 

On August 8th police were called to his property to help assist him to Noble's Hospital after he called the Crisis Referral Team. 

 

Due to the amount of alcohol he had consumed Mr Hewitt had no recollection of the officers being in attendance however accepted he was agitated and had made threats towards them. 

 

Defending him his advocate said it was a case of 'drunken empty threats' with no physical contact being made. 

 

Mr Hewitt was told this didn't minimise the impact of his actions with the two officers concerned by his behaviour. 

 

Sentencing him the Deputy High Bailiff told him his alcohol intake aggravated his mental health problems - she also banned him from entering on-licenced premises, or buying alcohol, for a year.
