A Douglas man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after resisting a police officer whilst drunk.
34-year-old Wesley John Clarke, of Bluebell Close, admitted the offence during an appearance at Douglas Courthouse on earlier this week.
Police spotted Clarke urinating against the side of a marked police car in the early hours of March 10th.
When they approached him on Church Street he became aggressive and argumentative - refusing to give them his details and resisting all efforts to arrest him.
The court heard Clarke had been on a date the previous evening and had been drinking but the alcohol had affected him more than he expected due to a self-imposed drinking ban.
Clarke's advocate told Magistrates: "Had he been sober that night this incident wouldn't have occurred."
He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of community service over the next 12 months and pay prosecution costs of £300 - a three-month licensing ban was also implemented.
