A driver who hit an oncoming car left the scene without stopping to check on its occupants, a court's heard.
Rikki Goodall of Ashberry Avenue in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
At an earlier hearing, he'd pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on the Creg ny Baa Back Road on February 6 last year.
The hearing was told he'd been rushing to a friend's house after his mother was admitted to hospital, and another motorist tried to swerve out of his way.
However, the 48-year-old hit the other vehicle and drove off.
Mrs Hughes ordered him to do 120 hours of community service and pay £300 costs as well as banning him from the roads for 12 months.
