Onchan Commissions are applying for permission to use a former quarry in Centenary Park to dispose of plant waste.
The local authority says it's done so in the past, but has been asked by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture to submit a planning application.
The proposals involve building three concrete bays to dispose of bits of trees, grass and hedge cuttings.
The quarry was the source of the stone used to build St Ninian's Church, and turned into a park in 1994.
