Douglas Coastguards were called out after a help sign was spotted on a beach last night.
The sign, spelled out in rubbish, was on a beach between Keristal and Little Ness which is only accessible by sea.
Coastguard officers climbed down a 250 foot cliff off Marine Drive and searched the area.
Nobody was found.
