The Co-op says it's 'committed' to reducing food waste on the Isle of Man after overflowing bins sparked outcry.
Last weekend a Ramsey resident drew attention to the bins outside her local Co-op store - they were full of food which was just past its sell-by date.
It led to calls on social media for the supermarket to change its policies with people asking whether the produce could be donated to local food banks, the Wildlife Park or be sold at a cheaper price.
3FM contacted the Co-op and was told the company often redistributes 'surplus fruit and vegetables' to Curraghs and is now 'in discussion' with the Isle of Man Food Bank about giving more food to local people.
It says it works hard to achieve 'the right balance' between keeping the shelves fully stocked and minimising food waste.
