A plan outlining how the Island can stay on track to reach net zero has been approved by Tynwald.
The Climate Change Plan 2022-2027 will help the Island become carbon neutral by 2050 and meet interim targets of a 35% reduction in emissions by 2030 and 45% by 2035.
It also outlines the active role government will play to protect and enhance natural carbon stores.
Chief Minister Alfred Cannan says ambitious decarbonisation efforts across all sectors will ensure that increased population does not necessarily mean increased emissions.
Tynwald officially acknowledged the global climate emergency in 2019.
