The Department of Health is warning that cases of child obesity on the Isle of Man reflect the growing problem in the UK.
Figures from the UK show that one in three children and young people are currently overweight or obese.
Poor diets and lack of exercise could lead to serious increases of cases of heart disease in the not too distant future.
