66-year-old Charles Cover of Christian Street, in Peel, was given an 18-month suspended sentence this month after being found guilty of gross indecency and indecent assault of a minor.
In a statement, the Attorney General says he intends to refer the sentence of Mr Cover on the basis of 'undue leniency'.
The statement adds as this process has now commenced, no further comment will be made until the outcome of court proceedings.
