Chief Minister Alf Cannan says the Isle of Man can check people's immigration status as they travel to the Island.
In the House of Keys this week he faced questions from Onchan MHK Julie Edge about whether immigrants voluntarily leaving the UK can travel to the Isle of Man.
Mr Cannan said payments made to returning immigrants are made by the UK once people have left the country.
And he added Manx authorities have access to the information they need to intervene if necessary:
