The Chief Minister has accused the media of sensationalising stories about the government.
Howard Quayle MHK delivered his first state of the nation address to Tynwald on Tuesday.
He says social media spreads what he calls 'fake news' and rumours and is often used to further hidden agendas.
Mr Quayle added government would rather 'do the right thing' than make popular decisions.
