Chief cements UK relationships before retirement

Maintaining and developing the Island's reputation will require a 'continuing proactive approach'.

That's according to the Chief Minister who says he's spent two days in London 'cementing' political and media relationships prior to his retirement.

Allan Bell will officially step down from the role on October 4th when a new leader is elected to take over for the next five years.

This week he met with the Treasury's Chief Secretary and Financial Secretary, a Ministry of Justice Minister and the man responsible for relations with the Crown Dependencies.

He says in a world of 'unprecedented change and challenge' the Island has to build and support relationships in order to protect our economic future.

During his time as Chief Minister he says 'external engagement' has been a top priority and it will be even more important in the future as the Island deals with the implications of Brexit.
