Charity 'saves government £200k'

A local charity reckons its work saves the government in the region of £200,000 a year.

The Manx Workshop for the Disabled helps local men and women with a range of disabilities to reduce their reliance on social care as well as giving them the confidence and skills to return to work. 

The workshop was receiving a government grant which has now been cut - it'll now have to rely more on donations and selling their products. 

Manager Peter Hindley says they 'crunched the numbers' and worked out last year the workshop saved the government around £200,000 by helping 13 men off welfare and moving them into the work place:
