Charity fashion show success at Villa

Crossroads Caring for Carers IoM won the Queen of Charity Shops trophy at ‘Fashion Face-Off’ at the Villa on Saturday.

Age Concern, British Red Cross, Crossroads Caring for Carers, Hospice, Manx Mencap, MSPCA, Oxfam and Save the Children competed to win the title showcasing the very best of their outfits from each of their shops.

The event let the audience vote for their favourite collection in a Gok Wan-style twist.

The event followed a theme with the Isle of Man College showcasing outfits created from rag donations a la Gok. Trousers were turned in tops, skirts became dresses, jackets were turned into ball gowns and the finale saw a wedding dress made from donated baby grows come down the catwalk.

The evening raised more than £3,000 for organisers Crossroads Caring for Carers as well as proceeds from an auction of the outfits that had appeared in the show being split by charity shops involved.
