Overall Increase of 10%
From the beginning of April a new fare structure will be introduced for the Island’s Bus and Rail services.
The new price system will see an overall 10% increase in fares and the introduction of a new pricing category which is geared toward benefiting those that use the buses for only short journeys, meaning passangers can pay 50 pence to travel 3 stops.
There will be the introduction of the Manx Rider Ticket, which will replace the existing 12 ticket, the rider will offer more in the way of discount.
At one point it was feared concessions for the elderly were going to be dropped, but they have remained intact meaning that over half of bus users travel for free.
The Bus Network Review is still ongoing and will be completed in the near future.
