Authorities are reminding anyone selling their vehicles to change the ownership of the car as soon as possible.
The message from the constabulary comes after a recent investigation where officers traced a vehicle involved in a crime which had changed hands several times but the ownership hadn't been changed.
Officers say they're not implying anyone who doesn't change the ownership is a criminal but it can be a tactic used by offenders to commit crimes and avoid detection.
Police took to social media to issue the reminder to all motorists.
