The Celtic League has accused politicians of failing the public, after a report to Tynwald revealed around one in seven people on the Island are living in poverty.
In a post on Facebook, the Mannin Branch of the organisation says housing costs mean one in four private renters falling into poverty, adding expenses have outpaced wages.
And it says persistent poverty here reflects policy choices after resistance to raising the minimum wage.
In its post, the organisation warns without decisive action by government, poverty on the Island will become further entrenched.
