Cav Has Green Jersey in His Sights as Tour De France Gets Underway on Saturday
The Isle of Man’s top sporting star Mark Cavendish will be back under the media spotlight in the coming weeks with the Tour De France getting under way this Saturday.
According to Cav this is what his season has been building towards as he chases that sought after Green Jersey.
Cav is widely considered as the best sprinter in the sport and he hopes it will be this that gets him the maximum points required to take the Green Jersey.
He’s had a mixed season so far, blighted by injury and controversy, in the recent tour of Switzerland he was penalised for causing a pile up only yards before the finish line.
Cav will start his campaign on Saturday on the Rotterdam to Brussels course. It’s a flat stretch which will suit his style, with him odds on favourite to take the win.
In the UK media it would appear that Cav’s acquisition of the Green Jersey will be the most exciting prospect of the whole Tour.
