Cavendish and Kennaugh for next Commonwealth Games?

Team Isle of Man’s new Commonwealth Games manager says he expects both Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh to compete at the 2014 event in Glasgow.

Trevor Taubman was unveiled as the new general manger last week and admitted he’s already excited about the Island’s gold medal chances in Scotland.

Laxey’s Cavendish sprung to fame by winning Commonwealth gold in Melbourne in 2006. 

He’s since won 23 stages of the Tour de France, a World Championship and Sports Personality of the Year Award.

Onchan man Kennaugh became one of the stars of the London Olympics this year after winning gold in the team pursuit and his status in the sport has since skyrocketed.

Taubman said their presence in the Manx squad is vitally important:
