The vacant St George's ward Douglas Council seat was filled last night as Catherine Corlett sealed an overwhelming victory.
Securing 274 of the votes her closest rival David Buttery had 156.
George Campbell took third place with 93 votes.
It marks Mrs Corlett's first venture into politics and sees her following in her family footsteps with both parents serving on the Council in the past.
The election saw under 30% of those eligible turn out to vote.
