Castletown Town Commissioners says it disagrees with a statement made by former town politicians saying businesses will struggle because Market Square is closed to cars.
Commissioners took to Facebook to say that the statement made by John Cringle, Richard Ronan and Tony Brown reflected an outdated perspective that prioritises car access over a broader vision for a vibrant and accessible town.
It also says that It is disappointing that one of the lead petitioners has chosen not to disclose their longstanding personal interest in parking availability in the immediate vicinity of Market Square.
The Market Square will remain closed to vehicular traffic over the festive period.
