85 percent of Island carers say their health has worsened since becoming one.
Charity Crossroads Care gave the figure in a new report to mark Carers' Week this week.
It says 63 per cent also reported being financially affected by their caring role, with 30 per cent struggling to make ends meet.
And seventy-five percent of carers say they live with the person they care for - and often can't leave them on their own.
