Bus drivers to strike again next Thursday

Bus drivers will strike again for one afternoon next Thursday as the argument over their terms and conditions rages on.

The drivers’ union Unite confirmed the strike this afternoon this afternoon (Thursday).

It will start at 1pm and last until six o’clock teatime.

Drivers claim changes to their current deals would see them lose around £3,000 a year; discussions have been ongoing with the DCCL for more than six months.

The last industrial action by drivers took place over three days in December and resulted in many schoolchildren taking the Steam and Electric Railway services to school.

Government claims some drivers are earning in excess of £45,000 with overtime taken in to account.

Unite hasn’t ruled out further strike action in the weeks ahead.
