Firefighters are reminding people not to leave cooking food unattended after an incident in Douglas at the weekend.
Following reports of smoke, teams were called to Queens Apartments shortly after 1am on Sunday.
The person inside the apartment was taken to safety and then given oxygen for smoke inhalation.
Crews had to use thermal imaging and breathing equipment to enter the smoke-logged flat and discovered the source was burnt food on an electric hob.
