The Isle of Man’s building regulations are currently behind the UK and Europe in terms of energy efficiency.
To combat this new measures are going before Tynwald to raise standards of workmanship and design.
It’s hoped as well as financial payback higher standards and accountability will result in more confidence in the building industry.
However the new rules won’t be compulsory if the payback isn’t guaranteed within 15 years:
