Both sides in teacher dispute welcome progress

Officials on both sides of the primary school headteachers dispute on Island have welcomed progress from further talks.

NAHT members have been taking action over disagreements surrounding pay with the Department of Education, Sport & Culture, however that action has now been suspended following the latest discussions and a 10-point plan agreed going forward.

NAHT General Secretary, Paul Whiteman, says there's 'a way forward to a much better situation for everyone concerned' - Education Minister, Graham Cregeen MHK, added he looks forward to 'further positive and constructive dialogue in the coming weeks'.

The joint plan between both parties includes an agreement to discuss future pay and conditions - the union will now consult its Island members on the proposals.
