A pub landlord from Douglas has been bound over to keep the peace after trying to strangle his partner.
Ian Newton of the Bowling Green Hotel on Derby Road appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court police were called to the flat above the pub on February 13.
Newton’s partner told officers the 43 year old had grabbed her by the throat and threatened to strangle her after she’d worked a shift behind the bar.
She later withdrew her complaint, but in an interview with police he’d admitted gripping her and saying "I’m going to strangle you".
Magistrates bound him over to keep the peace for 12 months with a recognisance of £500.
