That's the message from the Northern Parishes Refuse Collection Service, which says it's had a number of mobile phones containing lithium batteries thrown away.
Discarded batteries in household rubbish can start fires, even as bin wagons take them away.
On Facebook, the service says you should safely dispose of household batteries at local civic amenity sites.
