Private sector landlords will be required to meet a set of minimum standards if new legislation is approved.
The Department of Social Care wants to bring in the Landlords and Tenants (Private Housing) Bill 2013.
It’s in an effort to improve the basic standards of privately let accommodation on the Island.
If approved by Tynwald the Bill would make it illegal to operate as a landlord unless you are registered and your dwellings comply with set criteria.
