‘Big Splash’ Dolphin Damaged

One of the Dolphin sculptures - out as part of the Hospice’s ‘Big Splash’ trail - has been targeted by vandals.

A spokesperson for the Hospice has confirmed the Dolphin at the end of Victoria Street in Douglas (near the jubilee clock) has been damaged.

Those responsible have scraped “Hail Hitler” into the paintwork, alongside a swastika.

The Hospice has reported it to Police.

Police issued this statement on social media: "We are disappointed today to receive a report of criminal damage to one of the dolphins belonging to The Hospice’s ‘Big Splash’ Trail next to the Jubilee Clock, Victoria Street, Douglas. This art trail follows the very successful ‘Wallabies Gone Wild’ art trail in 2019 where thousands of pounds was raised for the Hospice charity.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or information that can assist us in finding the person responsible. You can contact us at Douglas Police Headquarters on 01624 631212 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
