Police are asking anyone walking through Island's fields for exercise to take certain precautions.
Officers say people should remain mindful when entering fields which have animals grazing in them, particularly at this time of year when the likes of cows are rearing their young calves.
Among the advice is to to keep dogs under control at all times and not to run if you feel threatened by animals protecting their territory but instead move to the edge of a field calmly and briskly.
Meanwhile, authorities are also asking farmers if they have livestock which could be upset by people walking near them, to consider moving the animals from rights of way known to be used by the public.
