A man who was banned from driving almost 18 years ago hadn't retaken his test when he got back behind the wheel, a court's heard.
Wesley Anthony Burgess of Clybane Manor in Farmhill admitted driving while disqualified and having no insurance when he was stopped by police at 3am on June 5 in Albert Terrace in Douglas.
The court heard he'd been working at Jaks pub in Douglas and was driving home but had been banned from the roads for six months in 2001 and couldn't drive until he'd retaken his test, which he'd never done.
His advocate said Burgess had realised he was stuck in Douglas at the end of his shift and had made a stupid decision to drive home.
Mrs Hughes fined the 37 year old a total of £800, banned him from driving for six months - after which he'll have to retake his test - and ordered him to pay £50 costs.
