The average lifespan of Island residents rose to a new high last year, according to figures from the government.
In 2017, the average age of registered death stood at 79.
After dropping to 78 in 2021 and 2022, it's been rising steadily.
And in 2025, the average age at death was 81 according to data from the Central Registry.
