Attorney General bailed following court hearing

The Island’s Attorney General has been granted bail after learning he will stand trial on charges of perjury and perverting the course of justice.

Stephen Harding appeared in court on Friday for a committal hearing.

He had faced six charges in total - of perjury, forgery and a count of committing an act against public justice – but four were dropped following the hearing.

Colin Goodwin, the deputy assessor of income tax, also appeared in court. All three charges against him have been dropped with the Deputy High Bailiff ruling there was no case to answer.
