Successful Summer Season Crucial For Ronaldsway
Just when signs of a steady recovery to air passenger figures were showing, the Volcanic Ash Cloud devastated any chance of a return to normality.
The knock-ons from the Icelandic Volcano has led to massive spiralling figures across much of the World, the Island and the UK especially have bore the brunt of that given the relative close proximity to Iceland.
Compared to April of last year Ronaldsway saw a 23.5% fall in passengers, that’s almost a drop of 13,000.
One of the main problems experienced is that passengers haven’t been rebooking their cancelled flights due to the uncertainty of whether the ash cloud will return again.
Worst affected were the routes to London and Manchester, Blackpool however managed to continue to operate its shuttle service throughout the majority of the problems.
